Piazza Maggiore is the most popular and important square in Bologna, located in the city center. It is also one of the oldest squares in Italy, dating back to the thirteenth century.
Piazza Maggiore is enclosed within a majestic frame which includes of some of the most beautiful buildings in Bologna: in the West, we find the Town Hall, dating back to ‘300, which is the seat of the Municipality of Bologna and hosts the Morandi Museum, which permanently exhibit works by Giorgio Morandi. In the South, we find the Basilica of San Petronio, a fine example of Italian Gothic. In the East, finally, we find the Palazzo dei Banchi, whose facade dates to the sixteenth century.
During the evenings of summer, Piazza Maggiore became the seat of an outdoor film festival, named Cinema Under the Stars.
Piazza Maggiore and the center of Bologna in general are half an hour far from the B&B, and are located within the ZTL.
